Sandvik Materials Technology is one of the world’s leading producers and distributors of tube, strip, wire and bar for many advanced applications.
Products and properties
The products are made of stainless and high-alloy steels and of special alloys based on nickel, titanium and zirconium. Tubular products are the largest product group, comprising a wide range of seamless and welded pipe and tube, fittings and flanges, mainly intended for those industries that make high demands on reliability in operation, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.

Sandvik Materials Technology Strip and Wire products in high alloyed steel grades can be found in various fields of application, worldwide. Precision strip steel for catalytic converters, razor blades, flapper valves and different types of stainless spring steels and welding consumables are well known examples of this.
For 2006 the company’s turnover amounted to MSEK 17,000. Sandvik Materials Technology has 20 production plants in 13 countries all over the world apart from the main facilities in Sandviken, Sweden. It employed about 7,000 people, of which 3,500 are at the main plants in Sandviken.
Sandvik Materials Technology is a research-intensive enterprise. Each year about 4% of the turnover is invested in research and development of new products and production methods.
Project contribution
Sandvik Materials Technology will contribute to the project by developing material and production processes suitable for SOFC interconnect.
